What goes on in Neptune?
Part One:
As I look out the window, I start to see,
All the fun things I could have done, just me.
I could have stayed home;
I could have cheered for my daughter, dressed in her gown;
Celebrated her graduation, instead of floating in town
As I look out the window, I start to see,
I could have kicked the soccer with my daughter all day;
Visited Grandmother, heard her stories, and played;
I could have had cake, birthday wishes, galore,
But now I’m on Neptune, oh, what a score!
As I look at the small dot of Earth, I start to realize,
I could have stayed home,
But I didn’t.
As the first woman on Neptune, I’ve made it my home.
Part Two:
Danger! What is that sound?
What is that thing spinning around?
What are these creatures on my land?
Why are they taking over? It’s not so grand!
Danger! What’s going on? I shout.
They’re taking over, there’s no doubt!
Stealing my food, my home, my peace,
This can’t happen; it has to cease!
Danger! They’re setting foot in my home.
Now I have no place to roam!
I curl up against the rock, trying to hide,
He couches low, I should have died.
But I didn’t. I’m still alive, but just barely.
He calls out, “Mary!”
“Look what I found! It smells like cherry.”
Mary came and said, “It’s quite small,
And we don’t need animals at all.”
The man let me go,
But why, I don’t know,
It’s time for bed.
Tomorrow, I hope I’m not dead.
