Sad news today as I heard of the death of Sir Patrick Stewart. That one was tough. I liked him as Picard, but, to me, it is his portrayal of Professor Charles Xavier that brought him to my heart. His performance in Logan should have earned him an Academy Award. Rest in Peace Sir Patrick.

What a beautiful Daredevil cover, with Mister Fear blending into the background of the city as the full red suited Daredevil falls from the sky. The black and white background really makes this stand out. Lee Garbett has been doing some excellent work on the covers of this new run of Daredevil and he gets a gold medal for the trouble.

I do not know what this comic is, but I love this cover. It has all of the things that I love in a cover. It is intriguing to see what this is about. It has a white background and the red stands out like crazy.

New book from Ignition Press makes the medal round this week with a beautifully creepy and illuminated skeleton on the cover. It is a compelling cover that really should make the new readers want to give the book a chance.

I love the imagery of Batman in the dark, over top of the cityscape of Gotham. The black and blue coloring really makes the cover stand out and is just a lovely look. I did not even consider grabbing the A cover of this book, as this was just so much more artistic and beautiful.

Last week was Amazing Spider-Man #1000 and this week was the debut of Midnight from Marvel Comics. So two of the variant covers from those Marvel books have placed in the top three medalist.

This one came out of a SIKTC #50 blind bag and I had a hard time for a day or so figuring it out. However, it is a gorgeous B & W foil variant that I feel totally lucky to have gotten. I love this cover and it feels like it is something special.

So the first spot in the medalists is not an Amazing Spider-Man #1000, but it is Spider-Man adjacent book. The new Venom book with Boomerang and a symbiote has a beautiful negative-space-style design.

In a normal week, this one might have been in competition for a gold medal, but there are just too many options against this. I wanted to give this one a medal because it really is a lovely cover.

Here is the first medalist of the Amazing Spider-Man #1000. Again, there is white background, which I am a sucker for. I love the use of Spidey in the middle of the number 1000. The white spiders on the cover are great too. This is one of my favorite of the Spider-Man covers.

I was excited to hear about this new Tom King book from Dark Horse, but what truly drew my attention to this comic cover was how the bottom corner looked to be ripped and the inside page revealed. That is on the cover, but it is what page one would have looked like had it been torn. I found this so clever that I had to grab the variant.

This is an homage to Weird Al’s album “Weird Al” Yankovic in 3D.

Last week, The Greatest American Hero #2 claimed two spots in the medal round and this week it goes to Weird Al. Ain’t it great?
