The Iron Claw Trailer

I was unaware that there was a movie in the works telling the tragic story of the Von Erich family. Not only is there a movie, it is being made by A24.

The Von Erichs were a family of wrestlers, six sons of family patriarch Fritz Von Erich. Of the six sons, five died and three of them were by suicide.

This trailer looked amazing, with the time frame looking perfect. I am very anxious to see the story unfold.

The Iron Claw stars Zac Efron, Jeremy Allen White, Harris Dickinson, Maura Tierney, Stanley Simons, with Holt McCallany and Lily James.

The film is released December 22.

The October 13

October is the month of my favorite holiday, Halloween. And I was considering doing a DailyView of horror/thriller/Halloween movies to celebrate. However, I realized that, with school underway, the multiple TV shows I am watching (Loki starts this week, Gen V, American Horror Story), the X-Files rewatch, the normal movie reviews, Comic Cavalcades, and, you know, sleeping, I did not have the time to guarantee a movie a day.

So instead, I decided that I would pre-select a list of movies to watch during the month, wherever they fall.

Since there will be a Friday the 13th this month, I chose the number 13. I have selected 13 movies to watch during the month of October in celebration of Halloween.

I had no specifics for the movies except they had to fit into the theme of the month. Except, of course, they had to be movies that I did not already write a review that was active on the site. I spent almost and hour and a half researching movies looking for horror/Halloween/thrillers that I had yet to review and that was tough. Some horror movies have pretty generic titles and I was not sure if I had seen it yet. With the new search function at EYG though, I could decide if I had written about them yet.

Of the 13 films, I have seen 10 of them before, making those a rewatch. There are three that are new to me. None of them are from 2023.

When I watch one of the films below, I will change the color to this.

Here, in no specific order, are the 13 films selected as The October 13:

Apostle (2018) -Netflix

Jennifer’s Body (2009)- Max

The Mist (2007)- Prime

The Amityville Horror (1979)-Max

Monster House (2006)- Hulu

Coraline (2009)- Max

The Ring (2002)- Prime

Sleepy Hollow (1999)- Max

It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown (1966)-Apple TV

Slither (2006) – Prime

From Hell (2001) – Max

Saw (2004)- Hulu

Casper (1995)- Netflix

So here we go… Happy Halloween to all of the EYG Nation!

Argylle Official Trailer

This looks absolutely insane.

A spy thriller with an unbelievable cast.

They had me with John Cena. His appearance looked epic… and then it got wild.

Add Bryce Dallas Howard, Henry Cavill, Bryan Cranston, Ariana DeBose, Catherine O’Hara, Dua Lipa, Samuel L. Jackson, Sofia Boutella, Sam Rockwell, and Chip the cat, the real-life cat of supermodel Claudia Vaughn.

Matthew Vaughn is the director and this trailer really excited me for a film that I had no idea about before today.

Coming in February 2024.

Gen V Official Redband Trailer

Okay, this Boys spin-off (or series that falls in the same universe) is going to debut this weekend (officially September 29th) and so I thought this was a good trailer to revisit.

Gen V feels like the concept of the X-Men, a school that trains the future heroes. Of course, much like the Boys itself, this looks way bloodier than any X-Men product I have seen (even more than Logan).

The character called “Bloody Marie” looks extremely intriguing. That is not her actual character name, but it sounded cool.

I will be curious to see if this new series can be anywhere near as entertaining as The Boys, because if it is, this will be an awesome show.

It debuts on Prime.

Squid Game: The Challenge Trailer

I thought this was the new trailer for the Squid Game 2 coming soon to Netflix.

It’s not.

I actually found another trailer for the show, but it was one of those fan made ones. I hate those because they are done so well these days that you can’t really tell if they are official.

This trailer is Squid Game: The Challenge, a new reality show/game show based on the Squid Game. I hadn’t heard anything about this show, but it does seem weird.

I can’t imagine that there would be anything near as intense or exciting about this as the series. I may give it a chance. It is on Netflix.

Trailers with Nic Cage

Two new trailers starring the ever amazing Nicholas Cage…

First, Butcher’s Crossing:

And following that, A24’s new film, Dream Scenario…

I’m not sure that you can get two more diverse roles/films releasing at the same time. Both of these trailers look great and Nic Cage seems to be at the top of his game.

Dream Scenario looks funny and it has the A24 reputation behind it. Butcher’s Crossing was filmed last year and is just now coming out.

Nic Cage certainly works a lot. He is a great actor and these both look fabulous.

The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes Trailer

Wasn’t sure why we needed a prequel to the Hunger Games franchise.

I guess this is from a book by Suzanne Collins, the author of the original three books. I did not know that until I read some comments on this video’s YouTube page. I’m not sure that piece of information changed my opinion of the need for this.

The trailer itself looks good and the characters are intriguing. And you can never go wrong with Viola Davis.

Plus, there just seems to be something about Rachel Zegler. The actress from Spielberg’s West Side Story and the DC film Shazam! Fury of the Gods shines in this trailer, her presence just jumping off the screen.

Having you future villain as the protagonist of your film is not a new idea…ahem Anakin… but Snow could turn out to be compelling. We’ll have to see.

Honestly, I was not anticipating this movie much, and after this trailer, my interest is piqued a touch, but it has not moved up my list much. I will see it on its opening weekend and I did like the Hunger Games films so hopefully this will be worth its existence.

No One Will Save You Trailer

This is coming to Hulu on September 22.

It looks great.

Hulu has had some excellent original films over the last few years. Something like Prey is just epic. This looks frightening and filled with some tense moments.

The quick look at the monster at the end of the trailer gave me Cloverfield vibes.

This will go on my list to watch thanks to this trailer.

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom Trailer

Finally, there is an Aquaman trailer.

It has been a long time coming.

The DCEU films have been having a tough run, but the original Aquaman film made over $1 B dollars. Still, with it being the final DCEU film before James Gunn reboots the DCU, it could feel to many audience members that this is not necessary viewing.

That made this trailer very significant.

For all that was riding on this trailer, I found the trailer for Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom to be a bit messy. It was fine, but it did not knock it out of the park for me. It felt like a giant CGI fest. The best parts of the trailer were the ones containing Jason Momoa, as a father.

Again, I will be watching the film anyway, but this trailer did not make me any more excited. It was fine.

Killers of the Flower Moon Trailer 2

If I am being honest, Killers of the Flower Moon has not been a film that I was anticipating. I have no problem with Martin Scorsese as a director, but I do not revere him as some do. Leonardo DiCaprio is an excellent actor, but he does not drive my attention to a project like some actors might. The first trailer was fine, but did not do much for me.

After this trailer, I am considerably more excited for this movie. This trailer did exactly what it was supposed to do… made me look forward to the movie more than I was before.

There was considerable more emotion shown in the trailer than it showed before. It was more intense than it was in the first trailer.

I was always going to watch this movie, but I admit that I am now anticipating the movie and that is thrilling.

Monarch: Legacy of Monsters Trailer

Another trailer featuring Godzilla.

This time, it is the trailer for the upcoming Apple TV + series Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, streaming on November 17th.

This trailer included some big stars in the show, including Kurt Russell and John Goodman.

This looks interesting and Godzilla looks tremendous for a TV show, even if that TV show has Apple money behind it.

I am excited for this one.

The Exorcist: Believer Trailer 2

Okay, that is terrifying.

The Exorcist is one of the most frightening horror movies of all-time and this new trailer for the next chapter of the story is something truly horrifying.

The first trailer focused more on the pre-possession for a chunk of it, but this is all out evil and it gave me that feeling.

This could be a huge hit this October as a Halloween celebration.

It made me a bit uneasy… if not anxious.

In cinemas on October 6th.
