Agatha All Along Teaser Trailer

The next Marvel Television program coming to Disney + will be Agatha All Along, a spin-off of WandaVision, the first Disney + Marvel TV show, featuring the character of Agatha Harkness, who is played the by awesome Kathryn Hahn.

This teaser trailer was a surprise this morning. I was on YouTube and I spotted Kristian Harloff doing a trailer reaction to this. I had no idea there was a trailer due to be released for Agatha All Along so I was very excited.

Kathryn Hahn was one of the best parts of, arguably, still the best Marvel TV show ever. Her witch was after the power of Wanda, in particular the power of the Scarlet Witch. Wanda left her in a mental prison as such, trapped within the world she had created.

Agatha All Along has gone through a ton of renaming over the time since its announcement including Coven of Chaos, Darkhold Diaries, House of Harkness, Agatha: The Lying Witch with Great Wardrobe or just Agatha. How much of this was Marvel trolling is unknown, but that Wardrobe title feels like a Marvel joke.

After seeing the trailer, I have to say that this was not anywhere near what I was expecting. It is scheduled to release in September, in time for Halloween, and there is no doubt that the Halloween vibe is what they were going for here. There were all kinds of creepy imagery in the trailer and it had a different feel to the manner in which it was filmed. The first scene of the trailer did not feel like Agatha at all and I would not have known this was Agatha if I just saw the opening of the trailer.

I expected more of a humorous vibe, but this is an interesting switch. It is a Marvel property so there will be humor in it, but the darker tone makes me very intrigued where this series is heading.

It will release with a double episode in September.

Reptile (2023)

June 13, 2023

Reptile is on Netflix and is a mystery/thriller starring Benicio Del Toro and it is the entry for the June Swoon 3.

According to IMDB, “Tom Nichols (Benicio Del Toro) is a hardened New England detective, unflinching in his pursuit of a case where nothing is as it seems and it begins to dismantle the illusions in his own life.”

Benicio Del Toro is always great and this is no exception. He is well cast in this murder mystery and you buy everything that he does. Justin Timberlake stars along side Del Toro as a scummy real estate agent whose girlfriend is murdered. Interestingly enough, I buy him in that role very much too.

The acting is excellent. The story is less so. Honestly, there were times when I would start losing focus on what was happening and it felt as if the story became too messy as it continued. The film is well over two hours and you feel that run time. I think this could have been tighter with 20 minutes cut out of the film.

However, there were some good points, especially Del Toro’s performance. He is the later actor to take what is an average script/film and elevate it with what he does. In the hands of a lesser actor, Reptile would be a sub par film. What makes this watchable is Del Toro and his connections with the other actors around him.

One of those actors is Alicia Silverstone, who played Tom Nichols’ wife, Judy. The relationship between them was one of the best parts of the film and more of it would have aided the story.

I’m not sure how I feel about the resolution of the mystery, but I did think the final scene was strong and very tense.

In the end, Reptile has its moments, but feels too long and is unnecessarily complicated.

June Swoon 3: A Cinematic Flashback

For the third consecutive year, I have scheduled a DailyView for the month of June, watching daily a movie from the previous year, 2023, that I missed. There are several Oscar winners in the upcoming June Swoon.

This will be the place where I will keep track of the thirty movies that will consist of the June Swoon 3: A Cinematic Flashback.

Again, the rule is that I will watch and write a review for at least 30 movies, one a day, that was released in 2023 that I had not seen.

The Jinx: The Life and Deaths of Robert Durst S1 E5

“Family Values”

Episode five goes into more of the Durst family drama, including the apparent hard feelings between Robert and his younger brother Doug, who had taken over the running of the family business.

The sibling rivalry part of this docuseries was truly weird. Robert had some real issues with his brother Doug and Doug was avoiding everything to do with his brother, especially the documentary that was being film about him.

But the real meat of this episode was back with the murder of Susan Berman, who was murdered in Los Angeles. Susan had been a huge Robert Durst supporter, but she wound up death, with a bullet in the back of her head, execution-style in her home. There was a timeline laid out that indicated that Robert could have done it. He is placed in California, but not actually in LA. Even Robert said it though, they never placed in in LA and California is a big state. That line from Robert was chilling. He clearly stated this as a way to show what his defense would be if this charge ever became reality.

But then the letter was found that had been sent by Robert to Susan that matched the letter that had been sent to the LA police, that had the same misspelling of Beverly Hills, with an extra E in the word. The handwriting sure looked to match between the two documents. Andrew Jarecki wanted to record the reaction of Robert to this piece of evidence that no one knew they had.

This is what would lead to the bombshell next episode. The insanity of this entire show has been off the charts and this little man is just an amazing character that you find so difficult to believe was real.

Deadpool & Wolverine trailer

Marvel Studios only has one movie coming out in 2024.

It is one of the most anticipated films of the year. Certainly, it is mine.

Deadpool & Wolverine dropped a new trailer today, the official trailer which followed the teaser from the Super Bowl.

They wanted to show immediately that this would not be Disney-fied. ere were F-bombs everywhere in this trailer.

Hugh Jackman looks incredible and they have an easy chemistry between Deadpool and Wolverine.

This looks absolutely epic and I can not wait for July.
