One of the breakthrough stories on daytime TV, Stone Cates, a young and popular character on General Hospital, contracted full blown AIDS through a previous partner who had used intravenous drugs. Stone’s battle with AIDS was one of the most tragic events on the soap opera. He passed the disease to his girlfriend Robin Scorpio, although it was passed when Robin came in contact with Stone’s blood during a shooting. Stone became one of the sudster’s most memorable losses.
